Locus Designs arose out of a passion for digital design, a love of descriptive writing, and a penchant for marketing.

The seed for the business model was planted in 1997 while owner, Jodi Benedict, was working in the technology department at a local school district, and attending college classes on the side.

Many of the first projects authored by Locus Designs were done as classwork or to experiment. These early projects weren't pretty by any means, but they were an opportunity to practice, practice, practice - and learn!

Several of those early participants went on to become long-term web site and graphic design clients when Locus Designs was officially formed in 2000.
